I performed my first wattage test of the season today. Effort was good, bike was good, HR was good, power was not good. Lets just say I had the power of a untrained poodle. Not sure what this says about my weight lifting program. On the plus side this was my third or fourth ride since the beginning of november. So there is room to improve. Oh and my lungs hurt. Get some.
you can lift until you're blue in the face, but to be good at a sport, it's essential to do train through sport specific technique. Therefore, the main way you're going to increase your real pedal power is to push the pedals, a lot. Yeah, room to improve is a good thing - you'll get there- plenty of time!
